Northern’s Business Students participate in Junior Achievement’s “Company Program”

Northern Business Department is proud to once again be involved with Junior Achievement. As one of the most active schools participating in this after-school program, Northern has approximately 90 students registered for Junior Achievement’s “Company Program – A Student Venture”. The after-school program is designed to inspire high school students to understand the role of business in our society by creating an enterprise of their own. Top managers at leading Canadian organizations in the Greater Toronto Area deliver the program. Students meet once a week during the evening at one of many participating businesses, which include Royal Bank, PricewaterhouseCoopers and Manulife Financial to name a few.

Students participating in an in-class version of this program will, over the next several months:

· Form an actual company that will offer a product or service to Northern

· Each student will assume a specific management role (i.e. VP of Marketing)

· Set up a business bank account

· Sell actual shares to raise start-up funds

· Operate the business out of Northern
